Aromatics Oman LLC (AOL) is a company established to construct and own a petrochemical complex and is owned by Oman Oil Company (OOC – 70%), Oman Refinery & Petrochemical Company (ORPC – 20%) and LG International Corporation (LGI-10%).
The Aromatics Complex is a part of the development of a number of refinery based complexes at the Sohar Industrial Port Area, Sohar on the north east coast of Oman. The main feedstock for the Aromatics Complex is Straight Run Naphtha with 28% of requirement coming from next door ORPC - Sohar Refinery and balance 72% from import. The plant feedstock processing capacity is 1.820 million Tons per year.
The Aromatics Complex was constructed and successfully commissioned under a single lump sum turnkey EPC Contract by GS Engineering & Construction Company – South Korea. The Aromatics Complex is being utilizing the Process Technology licensed by Axens- IFP, France.
Aromatics Oman LLC has started its commercial production since 4th Feb.’10 after the successful completion of all the performance guarantee test runs
The Aromatics complex is located
at the modern industrial port city of Sohar which
is situated on north east
coast of Sultanate of Oman.
The plant
will be constructed pursuant to a single LSTK
contract by GS Engineering & Construction
(GSEC) of Korea.
The plant will
principally utilize technology licensed by Axens.
The technology licensed by Axens is well proven
in many commercial applications.
The plant entails,
construction, commissioning and operation of a
petrochemical complex for the production of aromatics,
namely 819,000 tpa of Paraxylene (PX) and 210,000
tpa of Benzene (BZ) which are used to produce
a wide range of petrochemical intermediaries.
The feedstock to the plant is straight run naphtha
which will be received from Sohar Refinery and
the balanced will be imported form abroad.
