The Benzene and Paraxylene are important raw materials for a wide range of petrochemical intermediaries, which are used in order to produce a variety of consumer goods.

PARAXYLENE is primarily used as a basic raw material in the manufacture of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and dimethyl-terephthalate (DMT), PTA and DMT are used to manufacture polyethylene terephthalate (PET) variety of polymers. Polyesters are used to produce, yarn/fibers and films. PET bottles are widely used for carbonated beverages because of good carbon dioxide barrier properties. In addition, they are light-weight, shatter-resistant and possess high tensile strength. Polyester uses include:

    Carbonated and non-carbonated beverage containers
Containers for household chemicals, toiletries, cosmetics, etc.
Fabrics for curtains, upholstery, clothing, etc.
    Microwave oven packaging material
Films for x-rays, magnetic tapes, photographic film and electrical insulation
Packaging for boil-in bags, processed meats, shrink films and blister packs

Also of extreme importance is the availability of various methods for recycling polyester and the wide acceptance of products produced from recycled polyester.

BENZENE is a key basic chemical for manufacture of a wide range intermediate products, including cycloxhexane that makes nylon. Nylon is used in everyday items such as stockings, rope and plastic toys.

It makes styrene which is used to manufacture polystyrene and rubber products.

It makes cumene and phenol which are used in health care products such as aspirin and penicillin, as well as epoxy resins.

Benzene, a basic raw material for linear alkyl benzene which is used to manufacture soaps and detergents.
